I think you are spot on in your analysis. I know that I personally have been more radicalized as a way to fight back against everything that Trump claims to be for. I had to force myself to step back from the situation in order to see things more clearly.

I think if we truly want to make progress, the middle of the road is where we will do it. Radicalism prompts radicalism. Radicalism isn’t the best way to get things to change because it always excludes the other side.

The fact of the matter is that we all see a broken society and I think most of us want to fix it. Our differences are in the approach. That distinction gets lost in the noise of radicalism.
